This is a little card I put together which can be great for both weddings and baby showers! Be sure to click on the images to enlarge them to see the embossed damask pattern! Sorry for the photos, again I was taking pictures at night and had to brighten them up quite a bit but in doing that I have lost some of the detailing.
First I took a piece of heavy weight vellum (40lb) and stamped it with white pigment ink using the largest image from the Darling Damask stamp set. *hint to get the most even coverage when using a solid stamp or a stamp of this size be sure to place a cushion underneat your stamping surface... I use a thin piece of packing foam that is used to pack electronics so they don't get scratched.
The nice thing about pigment ink is that it gives you more time to prepare your surface for embossing due to the longer trying time.
I then took some sparkley EP and embossed the images on the vellum. I trimmed this piece to be slightly smaller than my card front. I then took a piece of white cardstock and trimmed it a quarter of an inch smaller than the vellum and adhered that to my card base. I then took my vellum and punched a hole with the SU! Word window punch in the bottom corner. I then took my machine and stitched around the perimeter of the vellum over the white cardstock. My stitching was a bit crooked but I think it adds to the homemade feel of the card.
I took the word "Congratulations" from the Cherished Thanks stamp set and inked it in dark brown and carefully stamped through the window in the vellum. Doesn't that fit perfectly!!
I love the subtle effect of the cutout in the vellum.
I used chocolate taffeta edge satin ribbon from RBD and tied it around the center of the card. I finished it off with prima blossoms in white and pink and added a chocolate button in the center with twine to keep with the rule of three (I didn't think the stitching brought enough of the chocolate color to be considered in the equation ;) ).
I think I'm off to make a few more of these in blue because they would be darling as baby shower cards.
Thanks for stopping by!!
